A NEW LOW...

SHAME ON THEM!

In true kangaroo-court fashion, the Cairo Board of Education ignored the pleas of Julie Newell's attorney for "fairness" and "justice" and voted 6-0 to adopt a resolution calling for the termination of her employment.

At the conclusion of the two-and-one-half hour "hearing", District attorney, Barney Mundorf...without so much as going through the motions of first consulting with the Board...promised the immediate decision.

So...the Cairo Board of Education took its first step in settling old scores, promising to continue the process with the "restructuring" of the high school, then the junior high school, then ...

Incidentally, the Board is off to Chicago this week...for an annual conference. Reportedly, they are to meet with ISBE on Friday to continue "negotiations" over restructuring the District.

The Board did NOT vote last night to adopt the "draft performance agreement". The Board indicated that they would call a special meeting for futher discussion and possible adoption when they returned from Chicago. When one Board member suggested setting the date for such a meeting...for next week... objection was raised...the Board members would be "tired" from their trip to Chicago! Geez...
