CAT Tracks for October 24, 2002 WHATEVER!

The special meeting "for the purpose of discussing personnel issues" was called to order at 5 p.m. with six board members in attendance. (The seventh member arrived during closed session.)

Superintendent Isom announced that the CSD #1 school report card had been downloaded today over the internet and that it would be distributed Friday during the parent-teacher conferences and then mailed to parents on October 31st.

The Board then voted to enter closed session at 5:03 p.m.

The Board exited closed session at 7:40 p.m.

Superintendent Isom made a motion to hire Catherine Scott as CHS Student Council sponsor, which the Board approved.

Superintendent Isom then held up a copy of the salary schedule for teachers' assistants from the 2000-01 school year. He explained that raises in their new contract were expressed in percentages...that there was no salary schedule for the 2002-03 school year. Therefore, it was necessary to adopt one for any "new hires"...and he recommended adopting the 2000-2001 schedule as the 2002-03 salary schedule. General discussion began...Why is this necessary? (See above.) Is this urgent? (We have current vacancies to fill.)

Finally...a motion was made...to go back into closed session! (Geez...what did we do for the past 2 hours and 37 minutes?) Motion carried. Back into closed session at 7:48 p.m.

The Board (mercifully) exited closed session 5 minutes later. A motion was made to approved the salary schedule for teachers' assistants as presented.

A motion was then made to adjourn and passed at 7:55 p.m.

Now...don't you feel bad that you missed all of the excitement? That's the price you pay when you dare to "get a life"!
