UNHAPPY ANNIVERSARY |
It was one year ago today that the Superintendent and newly elected/reorganized Board of Education launched their major offensive against the employees of Cairo School District Number One...
On this date, long-time District employee Julie Newell was suspended without pay after being forced to spend the holidays in the hospital...a charge of job abandonment! The District then spent 3 months compiling (concocting) charges of incompetence...after criticizing her for years as "Little Miss Efficiency"! Make up your minds!
YOU know all too well what happened during their "Spring Offensive"...a "poor-mouthing" District throwing away hundreds of thousands of dollars to punish striking teachers...all the while denigrating us to the public.
NOT ones to let bygones be bygones, following the signing of a peace treaty (contract) to begin the new school year, the Board formed a secret alliance with (rogue?) ISBE representatives and renewed hostilities by threatening to eliminate their old high school nemesis...to be followed in the 3rd year of their campaign with the junior high.
And they wonder why the educational system of CSD #1 is failing! I mean, who can focus on teaching children when you have to constantly watch your back.
Will 2003 bring "peace" or a new offensive?
