BOARD GIVES CAT ULTIMATUM

TILL HIGH NOON WEDNESDAY

Here's what was hand delivered Monday:

Dear Ron and Steve:

Attached herewith are the Board of Education's Proposal A and B, which are self-explanatory. However, I will note that Proposal A must be accepted and/or rejected on or before 12:00 Noon, May 22, 2002 or thereafter said proposal is withdrawn by the Board of Education.

If the Association rejects Proposal A and/or the Association fails to respond to said proposal on or before 12:00 Noon, May 22, 2002, the Board of Education thereafter submits Proposal B to the Association.

Please contact our attorney, Barney Mundorf, with your response.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert J. Isom
Superintendent

Gee...Barney has been in the District so much lately, that Dr. Isom is starting to write like him...NOT! If you caught the local TV networks yesterday, you saw Barney ("I Hate You") Mundorf in action. But then I digress...

PROPOSAL A: (If you will allow me to paraphrase...) Take our 3-year offer that you rejected on at least four previous occasions by noon Wednesday and we will let you make up the 17 days missed during to the strike.

PROPOSAL B: (Paraphrasing again...) If you can't make up your mind by noon Wednesday, then we withdraw "Proposal A" and you must take our 3-year offer that you rejected on at least four previous occasions (or would noon Wednesday make it "five") and you can only make up 5 of the 17 days missed during to the strike.

BOTTOM LINE: If you don't accept our 3-year proposal, we will dock you for the 17 days that you missed (or is it misbehaved?) during the strike.

ADDING INSULT TO INJURY

DEFINITION: "Confidential" - Response by Board to anything requested by the CAT. Example: Your salary and benefits...you know...the information the Board freely distributed to the public. Want another example...the envelope which contained these two proposals was marked "confidential". Steve and I received it at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon. And, yet, I was confronted by reporters of the three local TV networks with the details of the proposals more than TWO HOURS EARLIER! The reporters cited Barney as "deep throat".

POWER AND PUNISHMENT

That's what it's all about, folks. For three weeks, they moaned about "kids" and "lost District revenue". BUT...when the CAT solved those problems - voting to return to school, THEY "DIS" THE KIDS and choose to throw away $102,000 of state aid in order to keep from giving you $34,000...the difference between their 3-year "deal" and ours.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

That's what is always boils down to in the end! They identify individual teachers at a public meeting as "bad". They put out a flyer accusing all you of "prostituting children". They applaud the former President of the Board of Education when he makes derogatory remarks about teachers..."caring only about money and not children". And, now...They say take this offer that you rejected while out on strike...or WE WILL MAKE YOU PAY!

Enter expletive of choice...#%&*@

BOARD MEETING THURSDAY - 5 P.M.

Need I say more?
