Trip to Italy and Greece

Venice

This covered bridge connects  the Doge's palace with the medieval prison of Venice.

This statue is the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, this one is a copy of the original which is being cleaned.  This statue sits in front of the Doge's palace which is now a museum. The Doges ruled Venice and its vast territory with a fair hand.

This is the entrance ticket for the Doge's palace/ museum. It has a taste of the beautiful art work inside the palace. You cannot take pictures inside therefore I have none , but this palace is lined with frescos that combine ancient religion with the catholic stories.

Say goodbye to Venice  because its time get back on the autostrada and head for the home of that poet Dante, Florence , but first a pit stop in     Bologna for some lunch.

The rebuilt bell tower for the St. Mark Duomo in piazza San Marco in Venice. On it you can see the water stain from the flood damage, because Venice floods frequently.
