Chemistry Project Benchmarks

Topic

Weapons--Chemical, and Nuclear; all aspects of each, but more focused on nuclear through. The reason I picked this project is because it is a topic that many people are not aware of. I bet if you picked any person random in this world, there is a good chance that they don't know how the nuclear bomb was created, or what Agent Orange is. This will fit into my long-range goals by helping me understand a topic that I am not very familiar with.

Goal:

Educate myself, and others of how certain types of weapons operate according to a chemical and physical stand-point. I will go as far as I have time to do because I have so much information to cover in such a small timeframe.

Plan:

  1. Choose topic
  2. Develop Introduction
  3. Outline main points
  4. Write the report
  5. Edit, and more editing
  6. Perpare pictures
  7. Post on page
  8. Done

Resources:

See Bibliography page

Form:

The project will take the form of a webpage. My target audience is anybody who wants to learn about certain types of weapons, or people who are just surfing the web. I am organizing my information into sections of importance, so that the reader is able to only learn what they want to, and not have to search for a particular topic in the page.

Introduction:

This section is already done, check it out on the page.

Lab Work

I didn't do any lab work for this project.

Understanding:

To make sure that my audience knows what I am talking about I have tried my best to put the textbook research that I was able to obtain, and put it into words that are easy to read and comprehend. But you will need to have a basic understanding of the elements, and isotopes to understand what I am talking about.

Historical Content:

This project had a very historic value. The atom bomb ended the Second Great War, and people are still suffering from the effects of Agent Orange in Vietnam. Both of these weapons were used during a major war, with the atomic bomb in WWII, and Agent Orange being used during Vietnam Therefore, we can make an assumption that the strongest, and deadliest weapons are made during a major war.

Social Context:

This topic is very relevant not only in histroy classes. History lets us learn from out mistakes, and create better outcomes of war. Most people do not know about Agent Orange so, it is relevant to educate the public about it.

Evaluation:

This section I will do in class.
