Topic
How does a microwave oven work? All aspects of it. The reason I choose this project because it was always a topic that I wanted to know, but never got around to researching it.
Goal:
I want to learn how a dangerous source of energy like radiation, can cook what we are eating. I will go very far on this project, multiple page report with diagrams, and other surprises. It will also have an explanation of many of the aspects of this topic, such as: How food is cooked? Are microwaves harmful?, and FAQ's on microwaves?
Plan:
Resources:
See Bibliography page
Form:
The project will take the form of a webpage. My target audience is anybody who wants to learn about microwaves, or people who are just surfing the web. I am organizing my information into sections of importance, so that the reader is able to only learn what they want to, and not have to search for a particular topic in the page.
Introduction:
This section is already done, check it out on the page.
Lab Work
I didn't do any lab work for this project.
Understanding:
To make sure that my audience knows what I am talking about I have tried my best to put the textbook research that I was able to obtain, and put it into words that are easy to read and comprehend. I assembled a very short list of terms, made a detailed and simple explanations of microwave ovens, the history of microwave ovens, explanation of a microwave, and a faq section.
Historical Content:
This history of microwaves is explained in the background section of the page, but if you didn't read it I will tell you again. In World War II microwaves were a good source of rader because they bounced off metal objects such as subs, and transmitted back to the orginal point of transmission with a coordinate. When a man was working next to one of these he noticed that everytime he had candy in his pocket it would melt. He investigated his discovery, and here we are now with microwave ovens
Social Context:
Of coarse microwaves are very relevant today, because we use a microwave almost every day. Most people are not interested in this, but some are, and I think they should be interested because it can be it is a topic that not many people know about, but want to.
Evaluation:
This section I will do in class.
