Fresh after a successful season, the New Zealand team have had victories over Australia, and current world champions England The New Zealand team goes into the RWC as the unofficial favourites, despite being told this week they are seeded fourth behind England, United States and France respectively.

The 54-strong squad is coached by Darryl Suasua with the assistance of Mike Casey as assistant coach. Former New Zealand coach and selector Vicky Dombroski is team manager, with former New Zealand captain Helen Littleworth from Otago as physiotherapist. Manawatu's Peter Lind is the team's fitness trainer.

The management team also includes selectors Sue Garden-Bachop. and Colin Stevens. Stevens has coached the Otago women's team for the last two years, and Garden-Bachop, a former New Zealand representative,recently graduated from the NZRFU's Massey coaching course.
