A Brief History of them Y-guys
By: Jack Tomas

Most of you webcrawlers out there in the vast wasteland of cyberspace are not interested in the history of this group, so you can check our links page for a neat Sex-Freak site. If you are interested you already probably are a Y, in which case I don't need to tell you the story, but just in case there be one of ye out there who want to know, I'll tell you. 'Cause I like to tell it!
It all began in the Autumn of 1992, I was fifteen years on this spinning cesspool of a planet. I had left the High School where I had been going, (seems they didn't take kindly to us spicks there), and I transferred to a small Catholic High School called Mt. Carmel in Houston Tx. It was to be the decisive moment of my life. In my Theology class , on my first day, I didn't have a pencil...so I asked the strange looking boy in front of me for a pencil. He was odd looking dark black hair, extremely thin, with an odd Green tinge to his skin. He introduced himself as Stephen Vazquez. I haven't gotten rid of him since.
About a week later at an assembly in the cafeteria, Steve introduced me to a skinny guy with glasses and a buzzcut (you should see his hair now!).His name was Michael Smith. Well, It seems that the three of us where made for each other as it was said. You see I never fit in with my peers, my whole life. but unlike most, this didn't trouble me, on the contrary I loved it. None of the three of us did. Me with my bizarre sense of humor and my esoteric goofiness, Mike being completely out of his gourd, and Steve being...Well...Steve. We bonded together, and learned that we had alot in common. We had P.E. together, a class we often didn't dress out for, and sat out and discussed philosophy, music, religion, art, oh and did our damnedest to make everyone else think we were insane. Among the myriad of things that Mikey and I had in common was our love for Pink Floyd, specifically The Wall.
Mikey would bring it in to class and we would listen to it over and over. Now any of you out there who have ever heard the Wall, know what that can do to a person. As we sat there on the stage watching all of the other empty headed bits of humanity playing volleyball or wiffletennis or whatever, Mike and I had a revelation. That Pink Floyd was right! Human society did produce these robots, these "Bricks in the wall", that cut off all circulation to the person's soul and mind. And all of those Bricks form a larger wall, which is society in general, crushing the spirits right out of you. But, what we noticed the most was that we some how had slipped through the cracks. Somehow, we were on the other side.
Now how did that happen you may ask? I don't exactly know. I don't know what makes people different. All I know is that there are some people who have it, and some who don't. I call it 'The Gift'. I guess it's like that divine spark within. The spark that drives poets, painters, madmen and geniuses. It is the light of greatness. Mike and I vowed right then and there that we were not going to allow ourselves to be part of the status-quo. We refused to be swept under the mat of humanity or Reality by the broom of mediocrity. We were on a quest. A quest for enlightenment, for us, and for the species as a whole. Steve now dubbed The Weez, and a young guitar player named David Elbert joined up and we formed the original Y-Guys.
The next year was to be one of phenomenal change for us. First of all, we would double our size and we would take on the form we are to this day. On the first day of school, in 1993, Mike and I spied a very odd character. A stumbling, highly intelligent Freshman named Brian King. Between He and I it was love at first site. He Mike and I formed, and still form the very center of the Y. That year we also met the incomparable Kazi Hutchinson, The incredible Eric Avera and of Course the master Ed Moran. It was Ed who took we young and impressionable Y's under his wing. We knew things were screwed up, and we had some ideas, most of which involved seeing reality all fucked up and seeking wisdom, which still is our central idea. But, Ed enlarged our view and influenced us more than I can say. I can't tell you any of our secrets cause after all, you may not be one of us, that defeats the whole purpose doesn't it?
Over the next few years we grew and our knowledge increased. Reading furiously, writing and drawing in the legendary Y-Guy Notebooks and on our own we grew some respectability. So much so that at my graduation in 1995 when I wore the Y-guy symbol on my hat, I was cheered by all who understood and stood for what we did.
The Y-Guys is an incredible group. The beautiful and damn near goddess like Diane and Nancy Granahan, The great and powerful Magus Sam Sanderson, The ingenious madman Frank Tamborello, The future dictator of Idaho Jon Lewis, The beautiful but lurid Karla Ortega, the strange and wonderful Katir Mckinley. They are all great. They are all giants. Giants in a world of ants. Each of them a beacon of Gnosis for those groping around in the dark.

This by no means is a comprehensive history, but a brief overview.
