After a disappointing 1997-98 season, the George Mason Mustangs Boy's Varsity Basketball Team were eager to begin their upcoming season with a good start.  Coach Capannola, in his second year as head coach of the Mustangs, is hopeful of improving on the team's 6-14 record last season.  This years team is led by Jason Motlagh in his third season as a Varsity starter.  Other starters include Tyler Sweek, who averaged 4.2 points as a sophomore and 4.8 as a junior.  Khalil Ali, another starter, has solid experience and is a great leader on the team.  The most interesting acquisition of the Mustangs are the two Freshmen, Daryll Thomas and Kenny Wilson.  Fans have awaited the arrival of both at the Varsity level while watching their development as exceptional player's through the City's youth basketball program.  Hopefully, the Mustangs will be able to capitalize on their new acquisitions and join the elite basketball programs of the Northern Virginia area.  It proves to be an interesting season full of great basketball and fun.

Below are five of the first Mustangs games where the Boys team went 4-1 in their quest fro a District Title.
