Parliamentary Procedure Q&A

Q: We have an investment club. It's time to nominate a new slate of officers. Can the present President and a Vice President be on that [nominating] committee? - D. Brumfield, Feb. 9, 2000

A: Unless your bylaws state otherwise, the VP may be on the committee, but your President may not. Generally, the President is an ex-officio member of every committee except the Nominating Committee, of which he is ineligible to be a member. See RONR p. 488.
