Parliamentary Procedure Q&A
Q:
Our council president resigned just before the annual meeting.
We did not find anyone willing to take this position 'till after the annual meeting.
What I would like to know is, may we still elect him into office or must we wait until next year at the next annual meeting to elect him.
There are some who say we must wait.

A:
Check your bylaws for the procedure for filling vacant offices.
The presidency should not go vacant for an entire term!
If the bylaws are silent, schedule a special meeting for the purpose of electing your president, and send out notice to the entire membership about the election.
