Parliamentary Procedure Q&A

Q: What is the top ranking of all motions? - S.R., Dec. 6, 1999

A: Under Robert's Rules of Order, the motion to Fix the Time to Which to Adjourn is the highest ranking of the privileged motions. It takes precedence over all other motions. Its purpose is to set the date (and perhaps time) for a continuation (called an "adjourned meeting") of the current meeting before the next scheduled regular meeting. See RONR Section 22.
