Parliamentary Procedure Q&A

Q: Can a board member be voted on by a majority (5 of 8) vote from the other board members to be booted off the board? - Anon., Dec. 3, 1999

A: It's unlikely. Check your bylaws, but it's usually the body that appoints or elects someone that has the right to remove him. If the board member was elected by the organization (as is usually the case), it's only the organization that can "boot him off" the board. See RONR pp. 656-57 for "Remedies Against Misconduct or Dereliction of Duty in Office."
