Parliamentary Procedure Q&A
Q:
What are the procedures that must be followed for a member to be brought before the committee for removal?
- J.R., Nov. 12, 1999
A:
- In executive session, choose a committee to investigate allegations.
- Committee investigates.
- In executive session, the committee reports, either exonerating the member, or preferring charges.
- Organization formally notifies the accused of specific charges, trial date.
As you may guess, this is a very brief outline of just the beginning of a very detailed process.
I strongly advise you not take any step without reading and understanding Chapter XX of RONR.
