Parliamentary Procedure Q&A

Q: What are the procedures that must be followed for a member to be brought before the committee for removal? - J.R., Nov. 12, 1999

A:

  1. In executive session, choose a committee to investigate allegations.
  2. Committee investigates.
  3. In executive session, the committee reports, either exonerating the member, or preferring charges.
  4. Organization formally notifies the accused of specific charges, trial date.
As you may guess, this is a very brief outline of just the beginning of a very detailed process. I strongly advise you not take any step without reading and understanding Chapter XX of RONR.
