Parliamentary Procedure Q&A

Q: Can a motion for reconsideration be made on a vote from the properly adjourned last meeting? - Anon., Nov. 11, 1998

A: Almost never. The only time it could be applied to a motion voted on at the last meeting is when that meeting is one of a session (such as at a convention of several days with a meeting yesterday and today). (RONR p. 310.)

To "reconsider" adopted motions from previous meetings, use either the motion To Rescind or To Amend Something Previously Adopted. (RONR section 34.)
To "reconsider" defeated motions from previous meetings, you may often just re-introduce the original motion as if it had never been voted down. (RONR section 37.)
