The Gothic Trend

Is nothing unholy sacred? All through the nightclubs I see the corrupted images of what once was a genre shrouded in honest spechtres of death. Now, the elders have departed, creeping back into ancient sarcophagi, deep into the realms of blissful morbidity.........

The glowing skull grows dim, the black light fades, shrieks in the night are no longer that of horror, but of disgust, as the masked flock enters the labyrinth, sheep in wolf's clothing, degrading the hallowed halls of gloom with their very presence.

Everywhere I seem to go, I see proles dressed up in the Satanic aesthetic. It seems that black is growing as the current favorite, in order to be "right" in the eyes of the fashion industry. But they truly do wear it terribly. Once again, the age-old ritual of the inferiors attempting to be as superiors by merely attempting to look like Us. I can spot them a graveyard away. Anyone can "put on" black, but they surely cannot don the darkness that swells from within.

Still, in an even more profound perception of this trend, is in the fact that at least now, things are a bit more pleasant to look at --- feeding the fetish. Gone is the annoyance of day-glow clown colors, but instead, the glare is now replaced with actual clown proportions, over-sized & ill-fitting, sans the "pretty" colors {but that's an entry for another time}. The "gothic" is slowly stretching its decrepid hands forth from the shadows, grabbing society by the throat, & pulling them into the coffin!

I always thought it rather comical how a lot of these "gothics" wear upright pentacles, crosses, & ankhs about their skeletal necks. Obviously, the aesthetics are in complete contrast with the belief-system ascribed to those symbols. This only denotes flock mentality. weakers & neo-pagan xoids masquerading as predators {the fangs, nails/claws, et cetera}. These are the Laurie Cabot-types who go about appearing as "Black Magick" Magicians, but speak of the same indiscriminate love, perpetual peace, & unconditional life for all, no matter what the effects are on the Satanic Eco-System may be, in which the vicious rule the timid, & consume them. Such is the reality of life, as it has always been, as it shall ever be, & continually proves itself without a doubt, when all is said & done.

Indeed, with so many depricating the meaning of the cross by wearing it in their states of purposeful 'sin' {a.k.a., from the seductive plastic icon "madonna", to the assorted street hoodlums & lowlife criminals}, the latent energy of the masses provides its devaluation for sanctimony. Instead, the INVERTED CROSS holds the Power now, as those, however deluded in their own christo-mytheology, at least have the guts to unhypocritically wear it, & to their own extents, believe in their various representations totally & completely, as opposed to the mere fashion statement of the assimilates.

The popularity of vampire films has been on the ascension, & that anti-hero turned pop-icon, Batman, a Satanimation manifestation, has flown rampant into the brains of the impressionable. Slowly cultivating a new breed of humanimal. There are rides to vicariously experience, & more closely bind with the caped crusader. These are just some of the obvious Satanic influences at work.

The more the Aesthetic Terrorism initiative is allowed to continue, the more we can expect our world to spread forth.

The jesus-worshippers continue to vainly attempt to oppose change, & anything that even vaguely resembles "devil-worshippers" or "Satanism" as they see it. Their feeble efforts falling like melting snow. Those change-hating fools, those who seek to stunt the evolutionary flow, seeking to capture more minds in their guilt-inducements & pipe-dreams. They may well know, when people begin tapping into the hidden mysteries of "god" {nature = macrocosm + self = microcosm = divinity, or "N=Mac+S=Mic=D", if you will}, that with the recognition of oneself as God, the master of one's own fate, that more & more people will be leaving the traditional churches, seeking alternative dogmas & philosophies, & in some select Satanic cases, independant study.

Yet through all of this, there is something that will never cease to be unfashionable. That is Satanism. Sure, the commoners may attempt to replicate it in one form or another, thus adding fuel to the fire & brimstone of fundies, but that works for us as well, contributing to the diabolical mystique. At least there will be more pentagrams, candles, & black altars as part of imaginative plots in movies & shows created by writers, actors, & directors for their mealy-mouthed public. And as Nightworld arrives, we just may be able to have an extended, if somewhat watered-down, version of our own homes to see on the outside. And with the joys of Hallowe'en, you know how fun & stimulating that can be!

"Goth" has become a blanket statement for people unable to grow beyond such simplistic catagorization, although it is recognized that on some level, labels are necessary in some cases. For example, if an organization wishes to grow as a movement with a cause. In fact, being "Goth" does not necessarily mean that one is overtly obsessed with the morbid or the grotesque. I have found that every individual who is inclined towards the "Dark Side", has varying degrees of fascination. It could run no deeper than aesthetics & going to shows, to the complete submerging in subject matter deemed Occult, & even misnomered "Satanic". Fascination with death seems to be a constant undercurrent, however. But is it genuine? A mere fad to shock parents & "grownups", or a compelling attraction? Time always tells.

Some who do consider themselves "Goths" preserve that lifestyle for their whole lives, surrounding themselves in the wonderous glamour thereof in private, for social reasons, no more. Whereas others explore the "Dark" philosophies & practices of those who have always been accused of being "in league with the devil". & so forth.

In another perception, images of death can serve as sort of "memento mori's", as reminders that mortality is always impending.

In the end, hanging precariously o'er the abyss of tears & mortification ..... it is easy to detect the poseurs which have been even more infiltrating the goth-clubs as of late. One can feel the truth, see it by the look in the eyes, mannerisms. Hear it in verbal expressions laced with references to either reflections darkly shared, or petty trivialities no deeper than the scars on their limp wrists.
