Nothing but Air
I reach out at times for your hand
our fingers to entwine
I find nothing but air.
I move over to mold to fit your body
so tight and snug
and again nothing but air.
I long to be near you and
touch nothing but
air.
Exhaustion takes over
and
I sleep.
I dream of you
and suddenly
you are there.
I dream of
your smile and
know you are there.
In my dream I hear
your loving voice
and know you are there.
I see us walking in the woods
our favorite spot
you are there.
I awake and open my eyes.
I look to your side of the bed
and you are gone.
I remember the accident
and know you are gone.
I think I hear your voice
then remember you are gone.
I cradle your urn and cry
you are really
gone.
