"A Special Home"

We were building our first house, from the ground up. Excited and pleased with everyone on this project being a delight to work with. Our heads were huddled in modifying plans for a modest 3 bdrm Ranch to include full handicap features to accomodate my daughter Alya Krista's needs today.

The house appeared to be all we required. Still, there lingered a doubt. I could not phantom what this could be, as everything had come together quite smoothly. We had put every effort to comb through the details, the specs, the resources..but I could not erase a hesitation inside me.

I took heed to what could be called intuition, and drove to the building site. I paused and took in the situation and a realization befell me.

Before Alya Krista's injury, we had been in our lives where we were in search for "our desired location" -- You know, the one where you arrive at and say to yourself, "This is it!..This is where we can call home!"

The goal to provide barrier-free living, apparently had one priority dismiss another. Often our lives change, and our visions experience alteration.

For me, this moment brought me to where I would recognize a bit of normality back into our lives; our future.

To prevail, to persevere...I'm making a decision to maintain our goals for that special location that's right for us, along with the challenges of creating a barrier-free enviroment for Alya.

I am most grateful to the wonderful, generous and caring efforts of those at Plainville Affordable Housing Development. Though I have opted to pass on this development...I offer special thanks to John Harrison, Mary Hess, and Roland Nadeau for their personal attention.

This becomes a very important stepping stone in our pursuit for "quality" living. Alya presently resides at a Rehab Hospital, where total care needs are met by dedicated health care providers.

The house hunting continues. I am on a quest to find that house in the country -- Where Alya can awaken to the bird's singing as she feels the sun's rays rising in the morning; Drift into dreams that free her by the lulling sounds of crickets, or maybe an owl hooting, brush brushing and the night's air whispering. Laughter and music is in Alya's soul. Alya's lost of vision - Just means we grow and nurture 'seeing' from our hearts, maybe just all the more!

God Bless!
