Noble clothing should be a reflection of the characters wealth and occupation.  The outfit should also reflect the characters social status and power.  Nobilty outfits are known for their lavish color and rich fabrics.  The harder the color to get the more likely you would find this color in the outfits of Nobles.  Such colors as Black, Red, Purple, were considerred very difficult to acquire therefore they were usually reserved for the upper class.  Unfortunately in comparison to the peasant's wardrobe, there is no quick and easy way to make a noble costume.  Unless you are an exceptional seamstress/taylor, you may find it in your best interest to purchase or rent a costume at your local faire.  I will however try to give you a few ideas for those who would like to make their own outfit, as well as information on what to look for if you are buying an outfit.

Men's

Men's clothing as with the peasant's outfits are usually easier to deal with than the women's outfits.  Men's outfits usually consisted of a pair of pants or hose, a shirt, a doublet, a pair of boots or shoes, and a hat.  The pants or hose were usually made to fit.  They weren't extremely baggy and they were made out of rich fabric.  Also accompanying the men's pants/hose the men would wear a Cod piece.  This was a fabric pouch used to cover a man's private area.  It was usually elaborately decorated.   It even double as a pocket for keeping small items as well as handkerchief.  The next prevelant item was the Doublet.  This vest-like item was worn over the shirt and fitted to the waist.  This was usually the most expensive article a man wore.  These vest were usually made to the wearer's specifications by a very talented taylor or seamstress.  The shirts worn under the doublet were a little more plainer but not by much.  Usually the shirt and the shirt sleeves were two seperate items.  The sleeve had wrist ruffles or turned back cuffs.  The sleeves were changed depending on the style of the day.  An interesting not about the sleeves is that at one time they would actually slit the sleeves and pull or puff the material underneath through.  So it would look like you had colored the sleeve in a certain area.  Finally the last two items the Hat and the shoes.  Both items were make by specialists.  Noble men would go to the shoe maker and have custom shoes made.  Also the hats that were worn by the noblemen also were specially made for them to usually match the fashion of the times.
