COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course offers a survey of a range of cultural phenomena including language patterns of subsistence, economic organization, marriage and the family, kinship, political organization, religion, the arts, and cultural changes.

The methodology, concepts, and theories employed within the discipline will be presented in the development of anthropological perspective.

REQUIRED MATERIAL

CD-ROM with web site given on Friday, June 6. It is essential that you have access to a computer with Internet and CD-ROM capabilities. It is mandatory to attend a meeting with the instructor on this day in room C-309 at 2:00 P.M.

GRADING POLICY

The semester grade will be based on the following: two projects (15% each), a final project (20%), and 5 individual assignments (50%). All late assignments will be graded down.

For your projects and final, you have the choice of completing a multimedia project or writing an essay. You can ckeck the project guidelines for further details. You must submit an individual profile by July 17, 2002 in order to complete these projects.

You are to send all assignment via e-mail by midnight of the posted date.
