The English Bagrut; The Oral Exam:
(Unofficial Information)

The Four and Five Point Exam The Exams consists of four parts.

Parts I and II are done by an outside tester.

Parts III and IV are done by your own classroom teacher.
  1. The Extended Interview

The tester will ask you questions about yourself, your family and your interests. You might be asked about your school, or about jobs you have held. You might also be asked to discuss current issues, such as problems in society. If the tester argues with you, don't worry! He/she is trying to see how well you can express yourself.

  2. The Role Play
The tester will have role play cards. These cards describe a certain situation that you will "play out" with the tester. Your role will require asking questions. For example,
" The tester owns an apartment you are interested in renting. Ask him/her about the apartment."
You must ask 10 questions altogether. If you can't ask 10 questions using one card, the tester will provide another card.

The tester is supposed to answer your questions. If he/she does not, let your teacher know.

  3. Literature

Your own teacher will ask you questions about the literature program that you covered in 11th and 12th grade. Questions will be on content and also on analysis. (See the grading scale for more details at Oral Scales

The requirements for literature are as follows:
  4. The Extensive Reading Program

You must bring a portfolio with the 6 book tasks (minimum) that you did during 11th and 12th grade. The teacher will ask you questions about the book tasks and the books. For more information, see the oral scales.Oral Scales
