On most issues, I do take a liberal stance, altough you may find that unusual for a Christian (I think it's actually quite natural, thought). I believe that government needs to regulate business (not vice-versa), that it is the nation's (through taxes, etc.) responsibility to provide for its citizens (I'm talking welfare, social security, etc.), that capital punishment is inhumane--at least I could never know I was why someone has been murdered in reprisal! I think that if I was murdered, I would never want my murderer to be killed, but I wouldn't want him/her let loose to victimise others. Life inprisonment is, of course, a problem due to the money involved. Therefore, I think we should send life prisoners to work in Antarctica or as IRS agents (they couldn't be much less competent). [By the way, that last sentence was pure sarcasm, said only in jest, I do not really feel that way.] I don't think divorce is good at all, since it is a binding agreement between two people and God, but if people want a divorce, that's their business, not mine. And sometimes the circumstances warrant a divorce, in even my eyes. As for abortion--well, that's a tricky, touchy subject. I know that I could not live with myself were I to have an abortion, and I feel it is a definite sin to kill a baby because you made a mistak. But I am pro-choice because other people's opinions are their business. If a woman wants an abortion, especially due to extenuating circumstances such as risk to her own life or rape, then I have no right to say no to her. Should abortion be restricted to such extenuating circumstances? I don't claim to know.
What's up with the whole Clinton scandal deal? It seems ridiculous. Not to say that if the allegations are true, I condone the President's actions; however, I believe that Clinton is a very good president and should not be bothered with civil cases that do not concern his effectiveness in office. Especially since this whole attempt by the Republican party to degrade the President is keeping Clinton from doing his job properly. First of all, Monica Lewinsky should not even be discussed. If Clinton has consentual, adulterous sex, that is between him, his wife, and God. This is not a matter of national importance that sheds unfavorable light on his presidential performance. As for Willey, her story doesn't seem sound. Clinton was not in direct control of the responsibility of hiring her anyway, right? Also, if a man starts to come on to you and you don't say anything until he has already "placed your hand on 'him'," then haven't you failed to tell him no? I mean, he had already kissed and touched her, according to Willey on 60 Minutes, and touched her to him, before she "decided to get out of there." Whether this story is true or not, Willey doesn't seem to have a sound enough reputation herself to bring such allegations. Paula Jones? I don't know much about that one. In any case, I think this whole media and political extravaganza is silly and dangerous to our country. Let the poor guy do his job!
