Spellwork: How is works
There are may kinds of spells, just as there are many kinds of witches. Spells can be beautiful thought-out ritualistic expressions of a certain objective, or a simple wish. Spells can take five months or perform, or five seconds. Some spells require candles, oil, insences, a certain time on the month, while other spells require only the force of will and energy it takes to think. It all depends on the witch.
I personally rarely uses tools or objects of any kind for spellwork. The only time when I DO use items as magickal aids is when I was working a spell with others. The reason for this is clarity of purpose and method. If I am working alone, I am the only person influencing the energy involved in the work. I know what I want to happen, and know how I want it to happen. However, if I was working along with someone else on a spell, although we might have the same objective, we might not have the same method in mind to achieve that objective. If this were to happen, the energy involved would be pulled in two different directions, weakening the spell a great deal. The use of magickal items help to clearly focus and the channel the energy into a common path. (for more info check out the energies section)
The first in creating a spell is clarifying the purpose of the spell and deciding what you want. The second step is planning of the spell. The third step is to read over your plan and make sure that what you are doing is not going to harm anyone directly or indirectly, and adjust your plan accordingly (if necessary). The next step is gather what you are going to need, then you need to prepare yourself mentally. The last step is to cast your spell.
I will now take you through each step with a great deal of detail.
Clarifying Your Purpose
The first step in designing a spell is to have an objective, after all you are not going to cast a spell for no reason at all. For the sake of discussion we will create an example. For the great majority of the population, money is a major concern in everyday life. Let's face it, we all have bills to pay. So, we are going to design a spell to bring money to us. So, to clarify our objective we are going to get a sheet of paper and begin the planning process of our spell. On the top of the sheet of paper we are going to write out what we want. For this example you would write "The purpose of my spell is to bring money into my life." Seems easy enough, huh?
Planning The Spellwork
Now that we have our objective, it is time to decide what kind of spell we want to do. They are many ways to performs spells ~ We could use candles, herbs, oils, talismans, tarot cards, runes, just about anything we wanted. For this example I am going to use insence as a tool and creative visualization. So, my first step in planning would be to decide what kind of insence I want to use. So, since I am not an adept herbalist I would need to do a little research to find out what kind of ingredients to use. After consulting a book or two, I have decided that I am going to use cinnamon and cloves. I picked these two because they are very easily accessable and not very expensive. I am also going to throw in a little "dragon's blood" just because I like it and it gives a little extra kick. I don't know hard hard it is to find, I buy it in bags from a local craft store. So, the actual spellwork will consist of creating an incense by mixng together 2 different ingredients for prosperity and an extra ingredient for added "umph". While creating this insence I will focus my thoughts on money coming into my life and empower the ingredients. I will then burn the insence while visualizing money and the happiness it will provide me.
Checking For Problems
Now is the time for me to read over my plan and make sure that what i am doing can not harm anyone. Now simply looking at my spell it seems perfectly okay, but when I look closer and really think about what I am doing I realize that I have given no path for the money to come to me. Without dictating a path for the money to come to me, there is no telling what might happen. I might be in a car accident and the money would be the insurance claim. It is very important to create a realistic path for which to acheive the goal of your spellwork. So I would need to re-think my spell a little bit and add in a REALISTIC path for which the money to come to me. The reason I say "realistic" path is because I would not want to say "I will get the money for winning the lottery". If we had that kinda power I would do nothing but sit in my room and mix insences all day and get everything I want. So, for a realistic path I might want to try to get a raise or promotion at work, or maybe even a better job. This change would come in the visualization aspect of my spellwork and the empowering of the insence.
Preparation for Casting
So, now that I have a plan and I have made sure that I will not hurt anyone directly or indirectly in the process, it is time for me to prepare myself to work the spell. I need to decide where and when I want to cast the spell. My belief is that there is no time like the present, when the emotional energy is there and the purpose is fresh in your mind. Now, the next question is where. The best place to conduct your work would be somewhere will you will not be distracted or interrupted. A place where you can focus and be comfortable. I do most of my spellwork in my room. Read over your plan a few times if necessary and make sure you know what you are doing so that you won't need to refer to you paper during the work. There is nothing wrong with reading what you have written during the spellwork, especially if you have written some kind of chant or words of power you want to use. I personally prefer not read read when casting spells. I prefer focusing on energy on visualization and if I need to say anything out loud, I prefer it to be spontaneous so that my focus isn't impaired in any way.
It is a good idea to prepare everything you are going to need first and then take a minute or two to sit or lay down and meditate to clear your mind of any negativity. Take a few deep cleansing breaths. And when you feel that you are relaxed and mentally ready, go on to the next step.
Casting Your Spell
Well, there's not a whole lot to say here without being redundant. The most important part of actually casting your spell is have confidence in yourself. Believe in what you are doing. Faith is 99% of casting a spell. If you mess up in what you are saying, don't freak. It is okay to take your time. Stay focused and keep going. Take as much time as you need.
Conclusions
Now that your spell is cast, take steps to make sure you get what you want. Don't just sit on your ass and wait for money to magickally come to you. Inquire about job opportunites at work. Look through the want ads. Make your spell a reality.
*Spells for prosperity are very common, there are in fact entire books written on spells for prosperity. One such book is "Silver's Spells for Prosperity" by Silver RavenWolf. I have used this book as a reference guide for designing this spell, since my knowledge of insences and herbs aren't extensive.
