I drew my pack about my shoulders, filled with my memories of you. And
it bulged but weighed not at all. Around my waist I slung my weapon of
promise, hope and love, forged between us to protect me on my journey.
And my money pouch overflowed with my dreams for you. I left then and
went in search of the Sister of the Stars. Across clouded milky
landscapes. Between a billion stars all of her domain. I fought my way
through her guardians of light and heat and gas. And within the Temple
of the Stars I did find her. Seated upon her throne she was a most
beautiful sight.
And she whispered to me "Mortal am I not the most wondrous woman that
you have ever seen?"
I breathed deeply in my reply "You are truly wondrous Sister of the
Stars but the most wondrous woman is my love Charlee."
Then she nodded and said to me "Mortal you have found me where no
other has come before, you may make a wish and anything beneath these
stars will be yours."
"I have the most precious treasure in all space and time, I need
nothing." I replied "I ask but one favour, that you hear my words and
that they will be written as law if they are to be judged true."
"I will hear your words mortal." She said.
Then I drew myself high and my eyes did lock upon hers and I said to
the Sister of Stars "I swear that I love Charlee and that we shall be
together forever more."
The Sister of Stars spread her arms wide "I hear your words mortal and
they are judged to be true. Thus they shall be written as law across
the heavens of my domain so that each time you shall look upon the sky
it will be written so. And you should know that she does love you too
mortal."
I took my leave of her then and I changed my fated course. Weary no
more I turned in search for the Emperor of the Elements. I sought this
being through frigid wastes, seas of lava and mountains of coals, upon
dazzling desert sands and dark worlds of water, and always the spirits
of the Elements would hound me, pulling at my mind and my body,
shredding my sanity and my strength. And when all was but lost and
naught I did come before the Emperor of the Elements, crawled upon my
knees stained with scars and my blood, and the tears falling across my
face. And he was a cruel being to look upon, and his words were full
of menace.
"Mortal man you have journeyed where no creature great or small has
dared venture before. You have faced my Paladins and Ogres and you
have triumphed. I control the Elements, they are children at my
beckoning, you have gained the right to possess their power, ask and
it shall be yours. Immortality and infinite power."
"Your majesty" I smiled as I bowed. "I seek no power or immortality,
this love that fills me is stronger than all time, it will never die
or fade. I ask that you grant me but one boon. That you hear my words
and they shall be written as law if they are to be judged true."
"I will hear your words mortal man." He said.
Then I drew myself high and my eyes did lock upon his and I said to
the Emperor of the Elements "I swear that I love Charlee and that we
shall be together forever more."
The Emperor of the Elements roared with laughter "I hear your words
mortal man and they are judged to be true. Thus they shall be written
as law by my children so that each time you shall hear the wind, each
time you shall feel the rain, each time you shall smell the earth,
each time you shall see the fire it will be written so. And you should
know that she does love you too mortal man."
This done I come home to you Charlee. I fight not at all for the path
is wide and lit well. And I stand now upon your doorstep. Then I draw
myself high and my eyes do lock upon yours and I say
"Charlee I swore that I love you to the Sister of the Stars and that
we shall be together forever more, and I swore that I love you to the
Emperor of the Elements and that we shall be together forever more,
and now I ask that you hear my words and they shall be written as law
if they are judged to be true."
"I swear to you Lady of Memphis. I do love you and we shall be
together forever more"
