"The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26
Jeremiah wasn't quite what I needed today.. but God led me to this verse this morning which does meet the need. Paying attention to a person is probably the greatest compliment we can pay them.. it communicates that we're fully present, our hearts are with them, that we are devoted to them and that we care. When someone turns their face toward us, looking and listening intently that's the message we hear. What this scripture helps me see is that God pays attention to us,to me! He turns his face toward me, he looks intently at me, at my heart and he listens, he really cares, he is fully present in what is going on in my heart and mind today. Today isn't one of my better days but that doesn't change how God looks or listens to me. I don't have to be having a great day for God to pay attention to me... that thought helps me to dig down deep and find the strength and the determination to be and to do what I need to in order to please him.
