"But now listen, O Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.
This is what the LORD says-- he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:
Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. "
Isaiah 44:1-2
Reassurance that he is our maker and therefore we can count on him continuing to be our helper. God will never leave us alone to flounder of figure things out. God uses a very affectionate term in referring to his people as Jeshurun, a term that translates roughly to "the upright one". Despite a consistent failure to be all that God called them to be he never loses sight of who they are to him, and most importantly he never loses his affection for them.
