Today's Glimpse...

"Give glory to the LORD your God
before he brings the darkness,
before your feet stumble
on the darkening hills.
... ... ...
But if you do not listen,
I will weep in secret
because of your pride;
my eyes will weep bitterly,
overflowing with tears,
because the LORD's flock will be taken captive. "
Jeremiah 13:16-17

Again I see the amazing heart of God.. there is yet still time for the people to repent. The tone of the rest of the chapter shows that the prophet doesn't hold out much hope that they will but God still puts his heart on the line. No matter how hardened the people get or how hopeless the situation appears to human eyes God ALWAYS holds out hope!! The rest of this verse displays the heart of God through the prophet... he will weep bitterly for them... it really tears at God's heart when we feel the effects of our own sin. God never gives them an "I told you so"... even though he has repeatedly. God never delights in our suffering (not even that which is self-imposed) his heart very simply aches for the lessons they will learn and for the pain they must now endure.
