In that day the LORD Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people. Isaiah 28:5
This verse stands in contrast to verse 1 of the same chapter where God describes the fading wreath that the nation of Israel placed great pride in. They had built their capital, Samaria on a beautiful hill and that was their glory, their crowning achievement.
God desires to be our glory.. our crown!! God wants to reign in our lives as King, to be the one who guards, defends and protects. That is his heart for us and that brings me great peace and comfort! I think about the feelings I have when friends act in such a way as to protect me. They may say or do something that tells me they are thinking about me and my needs in the middle of a time when I'm focused on others or more recently I've had several friends help me work through issues in my life to get stronger.. there are times I've needed them to be confident, ask questions and gently push me in the direction I need to go but am afraid to. I appreciate those actions because they make me feel secure, protected, loved, guarded and watched over... that's how God wants us to feel!
