Today's Glimpse...

January 14, 2001

In each of the prophecies against Israel's enemies that I have read so far, God takes the time to comfort and assure his people that they will be delivered. The focus is on sending a message to the enemies but God realizes where his people are at and he meets them there. Israel should have known better by then, they shouldn't struggle with thoughts of God changing his mind and wiping them out, about God forgetting his promises. They should have been clear on it from the great number of times God communicated that to them. However, God knows his people, he knows their struggles, their weaknesses and what may cause them to doubt and he meets them there. God took the time to communicate clearly that his people were assured that they would be delivered form their darkness. Reminds me that still today God knows where we're at and he meets us there. He knows the struggle, challenge, the propensity to doubt and he gives us constant comfort and assurance through his words and through the people he sends to remind us of those very things.
