"Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always.
Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles and the judgements he pronounced."
Psalm 105:4-5
I've thought often about the significance of this phrase "seek his face" - one of the things that comes to mind is when I want to know if I can trust someone I need to see their face. All of it - I need to look in their eyes and see that they don't look away and see their facial expression to know their intent. Hearing their voice and their words is not quite enough. Doing this very thing has helped me so much. The past weeks and this weekend have been challenging but in really seeking God's face, which is to know his heart, his intent and his desires He has shown himself and has strengthened me and he has reminded me of the wonders he has already done.
This morning I attended a funeral for one of my aunts, it's been an emotionally charged and very challenging weekend for a lot of reasons. On the ride home today I was thinking about how I've seen God at work in everything that's gone on this weekend, I know that really seeing his hand is critical to my survival at times. Spending a weekend with family has been eye opening. It's interesting to see how people have matured over the years, to see their lives, marriages and now their children growing up. Some of them have been through some very difficult circumstances but God has been moving through all of that. I looked around today and saw over ten adult members of my family who are disciples. As a young Christian I saw many of my family members become disciples but over time many of them left God. It is so encouraging to see that some of them are now returning to God. My cousins ex-wife was restored in the South Region just a few weeks ago and I talked with another cousin who is in the process of being restored and his wife is studying the Bible. I am reminded that no matter what we go through in life this is what it's all about and God works miracles in seemingly impossible situations.
