Do you ever wonder just what the hell is going on in the Canadian Alliance party these days? I mean, things are just messed up. There are obviously a lot of people who have a problem with Stockwell Day. I'm not entirely sure why though. The Reform, in the last three elections, were not able to get anywhere in Ontario. In fact, outside of B.C. and Alberta, they hardly got anything at all. Nobody had a problem with that back in Preston Manning's day. But now, all of a sudden, it's a disaster. Why? Alliance, if they were still under Manning, would not have made any inroads into Ontario. Nobody could have led the Alliance into getting more Ontario seats. Those Ontario people are all totally Liberal. So what gives?

It's clear that there is major unrest in the party. But is there a conspiracy? On the surface it doesn't really look like it. It appears as though the MP's who are speaking out against Day are doing so on their own. It's rather quite amusing. Every couple of weeks, somebody says some stuff. They get banned from caucus, pretty much kicked into the Stockwell Day doghouse. There appear to be quite a lot of the top Alliance members who are in this situation. One would think that if they wanted, they could easily stage a coup. Day's support is shaky and dwindling every day. So if there is indeed a conspiracy afoot, what is to be gained by stretching it out like this? What does it accomplish? Well, for starters, it weakens the party drastically. They are no longer a cohesive entity. Everybody is on a different page, even the rebels. What else does it accomplish? I can't actually think of anything that it accomplishes.

So, maybe there isn't actually a conspiracy, and what you see is what you get, these really are individuals who are moved to speak out against Day. Well....it seems odd that they wouldn't come together. Very strange. Strange Days.

So, what is the real reason? That's right, you've got the idea. Members of the Conservative party are blackmailing the Alliance members to do this. The Conservatives ultimately totally discredit Day and the Alliance party. They can then take control of the right wing in Canada, and they will do better because there is a history for Conservative support in the all-important province of Ontario. And what's in it for the rebels? They weren't really Alliance members at all. They were Conservatives in deep cover. They infiltrated the Reform Party back in the early 90's, and have been reporting back to the Liberals ever since. And there you have it. The real reason behind Stock's screw-up. 1
