I read an article about child pornography in the National Post. Apparently, people are making computer generated images of child pornography, and this is a grey area because the point of child pornography laws is to punish those who are exploiting kids and forcing them to strike provocative poses, right? How do you know about this? Is it really computer generated? Hard to tell. Can't prove it either way. For all we know, it could be old pictures (of kids who were forced to be in them) and modified so that it's not recognizable as those kids, but still are them.......so what is good? Should it be punishable or not to have computer modified/generated child pornography?

I happen to be a pretty strong believer in freedom of expression. Is that what the freedom is of porn? Freedom of expression? Whatever. If people want to jerk off while looking at porn, then I think that should be their decision, and they should not be punished (at least by the government) for it. I mean....to me, it just doesn't make sense. How can you possibly see yourself as a democratic government if you are censoring what people read and look at? As long as people who don't want to look at it aren't bothered, people who do want to, should do whatever the hell they want.

There admittedly is the danger of kids who are forced into these abusive demeaning situations. And of course, people who are making these images, and who are forcing the kids to do it, should be punished, and in a big way. So let's look at it this way. We produce child pornography. Situation A: There are no laws prohibiting computer generated images. So, what do we do? We make computer generated images, and make lots of money off of it. We don't try to make real images because that is illegal, and the risks too great, when there is this totally legal, almost as good option. But aha, we have all of these old pictures of kids who used to pose for us. Can we feed these into the computer, and modify them so that they don't look like those kids anymore? Yes we can! Brilliant idea. Let's do it. Okay, so now switch roles. We're the cop now. Or the judge is maybe more apprpriate. Okay, this guy got his old pictures and modified them and sold them. Well....how do we know he took his old pictures? Who cares! We have his old pictures anyways. Lock him up. Situation B: There are laws prohibiting computer generated images. So.....we break the law either way. Might as well go for the real thing eh? So, come here little girl....

So I'd say that it's better to have Situation A. But you know what? Anybody who wants to see little kids naked are sick people. Maybe I'm generalizing here. In fact, yes I am generalizing here. And I don't care. Anybody who looks at, takes pictures of, or makes pictures of little naked girls in pornographic poses, I say is seriously deranged. Disgusting.
