May I Have This Dance

To dance around the room
Swaying to the music magic
Toes tappng gently to the rhythm
Head uplifted, eyes gleaming in delight
Arms reaching to catch the pace
A wonderous smile upon my face.

Hands grasping, but feeling only air
Suddenly the music dims
The sways slow to standing still
Feet planted heavily on the floor
Eyes open and the gleam fading
Dancing alone...a lady waiting.
