The following are the first eight chapters of a 22-chapter spurious writing called "The Acts of Pontius Pilate" or "The Gospel According to Nicodemus," written around the close of the third century by a zealous Christian who thought it would serve the interests of the faithful to have more information about Christ. It is here reproduced as an example of some of the various legends that surround Pilate. It seems to have been pretty widely available during the early years of the middle ages, and unfortunately, this probably contributed to the antisemetism of Christian Europe during that time. Below is an 1898 translation, so the English sounds dated.
