Stability
As we read the bible we are amazed at the accounts of Jesus.
Jesus:
Do we realize that Jesus has not changed? He is the same. The same Jesus that raised the dead can surely raise up spiritually dead non-believers. He can give life to our sin-deadened hearts. The same Jesus that opened the eyes of the blind can open our eyes to see Him and His work!
The same Jesus that said, "I am willing. Be cleansed." to a leper disfigured by disease can cleanse us from our sin. Jesus has not changed. He hasn't somehow lessened in power over the years. The same Jesus who walked on water and calmed storms with His word upholds our whole universe with His word. The same Jesus that provided food for thousands can provide for our daily needs. The same Jesus that cast out demons with a word is more than able to conquer our spiritual enemies.
Jesus has not changed. He is the same always. The challenge is: Do we believe? Do we believe that He is able to do what He has promised? We are so materially minded we become dull to the things of God's Spirit. We think in terms of what we believe is possible and drag God down to our level of understanding Him. We don't often trust Him to do God-sized impossible tasks. We concentrate on what we can do and then ask Him to assist us instead of finding out what He is doing and letting Him use us.
Jesus has not changed - but I hope that our conceptions of Him have!
Thought for Today:
Lord, stretch my understanding of You. Let me know you as you are, as you have revealed yourself in the word. Your love, power and mercy are the same. Thank You Lord that You do not change.
