* Rurouni Kenshin Manga Translation * * Volume one: Kenshin . Himura Battousai * * Chapter three: Tokyo samurai . Myoujin Yahiko * The next day after Kenshin had dealt with the sword-bearing policemen, news were spread far by wide. Suddenly, in the courtyard of the Kamiya Kasshin dojo, appeared a sea of faces. Kaoru: 1, 2, 3... Wow! 'Tis great! There exceeds 15 here! Never has the thought crossed my mind that the Kamiya Kasshin Dojo will revive in it's glory overnight! Kenshin: It is but a good thing. Kaoru: Oro? Kenshin: Mine audience- regrets and confirmations but my unworthy self here belongs not to the Kamiya Kasshin Dojo, and there has not crossed my careless mind the matter of accepting disciples. If thou hast cometh because of yesterday's matter, (Kenshin gives a silly smile) then deepest apologies! May thou waste no more of thou precious time here! (Kaoru stares at an empty courtyard while Kenshin starts to walk away) Kenshin: Wonderful! Now may my lowly being adjourn to prepare the water for bath. Kaoru: Thou incorrigible whey-faced loon! (slams her bamboo sword on Kenshin's head) Whyfore request them to absent themselves! Kenshin: This unknowing one really comes not from- Kaoru: (grabbing Kenshin by his neck) Then still thou should not have asked them to leave! (Flies Kenshin a punch) Can they have not made you their master, then think of a way for us to turn their minds towards the dojo! Kenshin: It is a trap-laid snare! (On the bridge back from the marketplace) Kaoru: I AM SO ANGRY! Kenshin: Art thou still mad? Kaoru: You need not have asked and would still have known! 15! 15 people! Kenshin: However, like them sirs who wishes to come just for the sake of it, even if their honorable self enters into the dojo, not a half year will go without thou Miss' seeing them leave. Kaoru: ... Kenshin: Wherein lies the meaning of that? There appears no point in hurrying an issue like that of, pray thou do relax! Thou need thy greatest patience to bear! Kaoru: However, I survive by and by teaching kenjutsu of the bamboo sword. By tarrying to disciples, my only other rice bowl yearning would slant towards other kenjutsu dojos. Working there, I work under them others, and suffer from their changing moods, do you read me! And thou doth not bother to lift thy finger and help! (A young boy is running towards the duo bickering on the bridge) Kenshin: My erring self has no choice, this lowly one knows nothing about the art of bamboo sword. (Young boy bumps into Kenshin. Kenshin jumps. Kenshin's eyes bulge out) Kenshin: ORO! (Kenshin notices something about the boy as does Kaoru, but Kaoru takes more oppressive action by pouncing on the boy) Kaoru: Stand there for me, you! *bang* Kenshin! He is a pick-pocket! 'Tis your wallet is't! Gaze upon it! (Boy turns around trying to resist Kaoru's right hand pressing on his head) Boy: Detestable! Unhand me! You wretched witch, unhand me! Kaoru: Wretched witch...? Excus-e mua, the folks of this province term me as the 'bamboo sword beauty youth'! Boy: Wretched witch! Pitiful ugly! Kenshin: (taking wallet from Kaoru's hands) Let it let it be! My erring self's sparse knowledge disallows me from discovering what hath been away with. (turns to boy) Kenshin: Little lad, (puts wallet on his hand) be not discovered so next time! (boy gets quite a shock) Kenshin: Let us off! Kaoru: Wait... Wait one minute, Kenshin! (boy grasps the wallet with tight, gripping grasps) Kenshin: ORO! (and hurls it towards the head of Kenshin) Kaoru: ! Boy: I am NOT some little lad! I myself, a prim and proper Tokyo samurai warrior Myoujin Yahiko! I myself do not NEED anyone's pity! Previously I was simply amused at your sword and conceited air, therefore played a prank on you. I shall repeat myself, I am NOT some little lad! Kaoru: (curling up her fist) This little... Kenshin: Little lad! Yahiko: Get your facts right, you old stinkhead! Kenshin: Thou appears to be one little lad, but thy character brandishes itself fully as one matured man. Deepest apologies! This erring one has seen too little of thou! (Yahiko turns away but leaves a thoughtful eye at Kenshin) Yahiko: ... Hmph! (Yahiko runs away) Kenshin: Doth him hath a puffed up pride, a swollen ego, or a well cherished self respect? Kaoru: That little over-confident beast! (Yahiko is sitting facing the river, pondering obviously over Kenshin's words greatly) Kenshin: (voice over) That little lad... had he existed in the times of the last, would be but a bad samurai, would be but someone in the dark! Yahiko: ... (Two men approach) Man1: There, there! Hey! You sure are one shrimp hard to find, Yahiko! The stuff for this month is due this day. Hand it out! (Yahiko stares at them) Man1: None? Oro? Yahiko: I have stolen myself away from this stealing job. You may claim my hands for that! (man 2 looks fiercely aghast. He hits Yahiko with a strong fist) Man1: Ga... Gasuke-san... (more blood erupt from that area) Gasuke: Speak whatever dream words! Yahiko: (lying on the ground) What is your real motive? I... *Thou appears to be one little lad, but thy character brandishes itself fully as one matured man-* Yahiko: ... a pickpocket shall never make a mark, I have been fed enough of this all. (Gasuke whacks another blow down) Gasuke: Sever yourself from those high ideals and high moralled words! I myself shall borrow this opportunity to tutor you on who your real master is! (Kaoru is walking along the river) Kaoru: Woah - I have a whole skin area of sweat. The time later shall be properly utilized for a good bath, Kenshin should be preparing the water currently! He who reaches home first, has the responsibility to heat up the water... (catches a glimpse of two men over the other side of the bank) oro? (careful inspection reveals two men bringing Yahiko away) Kaoru: *Is he not...!* Night Gasuke: Thou parent's folly! Thou thick-headed little lad! (blood falls to the ground. Gasuke has elevated Yahiko from the ground) Gasuke: If thou shall apologise, I myself shall accept it! Boss: Hold it, Gasuke! In thy society of thy world now, is not your nickname 'Hitokiri Gasuke'? Just a little lad like himself should have been removed of earlier! Gasuke: Boss! Boss: Yahiko, thou perk thy ears! If you do not pick pockets, what other forms of employments are available for thee! (grabs some food with his chopsticks) If thy 'samurai' spirit still belies with you, if thy 'will be good' spirit still belies with you, then your wrong is a big and special wrong! (Yahiko stares) Boss: 'Tis the Meiji era, I wouldst named it 'Money era'! Swallow your pride little lad, it is worth nothing. If your spirit dwells within the 'samurai', your downfall shall be pitiful to see. (Boss chomps his food noisily) Boss: A big existing half of the pleasure houses are credited to the wives and daughters of these samurais. All the times where bandits are arrested, we see they are all the original samurais. Such wretched fate! (Boss' face is shown. He deserves the title of the most disgusting man you can ever come across in 100 lifetimes.) Boss: Forget thou warrior spirit, Yahiko! Doth thou yearn for such a wretched fate as well? Under the wing of our mighty clan, you have endless food and is free of worries! Yahiko: Shall I myself repeat then? I refuse to continue! Men: Thou bespluttering lily-livered boy! Who was't who took you and breed you when thou original parents deceased? How dare thy insolent words from that attitude even dare be used to Boss! Men: Thou chaotic ball! Gasuke: Awaken! What's with the warrior spirit! Thou old man was but great. Once the new era was on it's initial, he was slaughtered. A big fool! (Yahiko's gaze starts blurring dangerously) Gasuke: Who do you aspire for? Like father like son! The same bird lays the same quality kind of eggs! Yahiko: LIAR AND SLAVE!! (bites Gasuke between the legs) Gasuke: ! ...... my family heirloom! Men: Gasuke-san! Yahiko: (curling his fist) My worthy father died in the cause of ridding the betrayers of the land, a heroic death! My honorable mother gave her life to illness so as to ransom mine. (Yahiko is tearing from despair and built up frustration) Yahiko: My father and mother built their pride on that of a samurai! Of exquisite qualities! I myself shall allow none of you, anyone there to speak bad of them! Gasuke: You wish to rebel, little imp! *my previous baby* I'll kill you! (Kenshin kicks down the sliding door and the door falls on Gasuke) Gasuke: ARGH! Everyone else: !? (Kenshin stands on top of the door, which is on top of Gasuke) Men: You... which area do you claim! Yahiko: ! Boss: Everybody attack together! Kill him! Kenshin: Thou may call! They may but come. Blame thou stubborn self for disallowing my entry. Them sirs without the room shall have to be immobile temporarily. Boss: Thou art... Kenshin: Rurouni - Himura Kenshin. Disturbance, but my lowly self wishes to bring thy boy away. Gasuke: Bring thy what away! Art thou a samurai too! This shall be your own- (Kenshin hits his chin with the hilt of his sword. Gasuke flies up) Kenshin: Not had thou fill of words? Then pray stay there and shut up. (Gasuke's entire head stuck in the roof of the room) Everyone else: ... Kenshin: Answer mine previous words, boss! Doth thou wish to show this lowly one here your abilities, or shalleth thou show me the boy instead? (Kenshin's eyes narrow dangerously as his killing 'ki' rises) Kenshin: Do you prefer the taste of the loss of your entire army, the removal of all your influence, or- (Boss is peeing scared) Boss: All right! Cometh, quickly bring who you wish to bring! Kenshin: (replacing his sword) Thank thee! Forgive this unreasonable one's daring and impudent attitude! (turns to Yahiko) Kenshin: Art thou all right, little lad? This clumsy one myself is but familiar with this strange land, and so searched high and low for't, therefore delaying my lowly self's arrival. (holds hand out to help Yahiko up) (Yahiko slaps the hand away) Yahiko: Who needs your interference. I myself can deal with them baffoons, busybody! Kenshin: (relieved but exasperated) Really. Then indeed this forgetful one still sees too little of thou... (Yahiko is surprised and shocked) Kenshin: Then be it! As an apology for thee, this unworthy one here shall tend to thy injuries! (whips Yahiko up and carries him as Santa Claus carries his sack and turns to leave) Men: Rotten egg! Leave not! Boss: Let it be! Pursue no further! Thy fellow is the legendary 'Hitokiri', not a mere caste of the society... never has one fathomed how such a man can exist in Meiji... (scene to Kenshin walking through a myraid of fallen human bodies) Boss: (voice over) Should we really bump hard with him, no amount of lives can pay the compensation. Be it a little boy to solve the big chaos, we have profitted much. Yahiko: Detestable! Detestable! Detestable! Detestable! Detestable! I am useless, and have landed myself in this state. Kenshin: Little lad... Yahiko: Detestable! I wish to be strong, to be dependant on myself and not on any other... to fulfill the spirit my parents have left me to inherit. Kenshin: ... really? Outside the building: Kaoru: Kenshin brings no worries... but that boy- (Kenshin opens the doors) Kaoru: Indeed he suffers injuries. The carriage awaits, bring thy lad to the physician, hurry! Kenshin: (putting Yahiko down) Her honorable madame, Kamiya Kasshin Dojo's acting master in-charge, Kamiya Kaoru-dono. Your teacher hereafter. Yahiko: Pardon me! Kenjutsu... her! Thou old witch? Kaoru: Teacher... doubt dare he be mine disciple! Kenshin: No doubt! Kaoru and Yahiko: ... Kenshin: Do discipline his worthy sire here! (pats Yahiko on the head). Trainer intact, thy dream to be stronger holds within thy hands. Doth thou read, Yahiko! *And thus- * Yahiko: Ay, ay! I myself shall try my utmost best! * - Kamiya dojo added it's second extra being. Tokyo samurai Myoujin Yahiko.* Kaoru: Thou old witch I heard thou say! Yahiko: That's you! Whatdya' wanna do!? Kenshin: Hey, pray thou approach the doctor quick...
