Culture of Romania Religion
As the Romania Burrow's Alpha Couple, we're happy to see that
you've made it this far. It shows that you're interested in this subject.
By the way, we're in the Department of Culture inside the Romania Burrow.
And you've just stepped inside the Religion Section.
We think that's an excellent choice.
If you'd like to learn more about anything you find interesting in
this Section, be sure to visit the Romanian Bookstore. You don't have to
speak Romanian to visit.
Iconostasis: An icon screen or wall that separates
the sanctuary (behind the screen where the clergy celebrates the Holy
Mysteries) from the nave (the large area occupied by the faithful). A
doorway in the screen is used by the priest to move between the nave and
the sanctuary. Facing the door from the nave, an icon of Christ is on the
right and an icon of the Virgin and Child is on the left.
Basilica: A typical basilica is divided into several
sections: (1) the narthex or entrance area in which baptisms take place;
(2) the main part of the basilica, called the nave, for the accomodation
of a large number of worshippers; and (3) the holy place or sanctuary for
the celebration of the Holy Mysteries.
