An April Afternoon

AN APRIL AFTERNOON

We lie in the hammock
My son and I
The world momentarily transformed
We sing songs
We talk
He laughs bubbling with delight
It begins to drizzle
We sing "Rain, rain go away"
The rain splattering our faces
He shakes his head to and fro
Droplets cascade down
The storm encroaches
And we dash off
Seeking shelter in the house
