I
DREAMED AND COLD GRIPPED MY HEART
I awakened late at night
and reached for your hand;
Squeezing it tightly,
feeling its soft warmth.
Then wiped away the tears
and bowed my head.
I dreamed of waking all
alone,
the world an endless black.
Cold had gripped my heart;
I’d been left behind.
Blinded by the shiny
demons of the world.
I prayed out loud,
but no one answered;
it was too late for me.
I wiped the tears
and bowed my head in prayer;
thanking the Lord
you were still there.
I asked him into my heart,
to guide me through my days.
Coldness lurks in my
memories;
I do not ever want to be
the one He left behind.
