MySpace Instant Messaging Privacy SettingsThere is a way to connect directly with another MySpace user in real-time chat through the MySpace website, and that is by using Instant Messaging (IM). This type of instantaneous interaction makes it easier to carry on a conversation with other users. But even though you may like using IM to chat with your friends, you might not necessarily like getting random IM requests from complete strangers ... and that happens. It's your choice to control how (or whether) others can "IM" you. No matter what you choose, you select your particular setting by going to the "IM" Privacy Settings window via the Account Settings menu. There are three "IM" Privacy Settings to choose from: - No one can "IM" me: No one at any time can ever initiate an "IM" session with you through the MySpace website. You still have the option of initiating an IM session with someone if you wish to do so, but this is still the highest level of "IM" security.
- Only Friends can "IM" me: Only your MySpace friends can open up an "IM" conversation with you. This is the most common setting, and it's the MySpace default for a new user.
- Anyone can "IM" me: If selected, you open up the chance for anyone who is registered on MySpace to "IM" you at any time. Feeling a little adventurous? Then this is probably the option for you.
