It'sYourTurn ... Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Reversi, Pente, Battleship, Connect4. These games aren't original, but the way you play them is. Instead of playing against a computer, you play real people, one move at a time. Because you can make your move only after your opponent has moved, this turn-based system is ideal for busy people. Making one move a day (perhaps only 30 seconds) is all it takes. In fact, it's easy to play several games at once. Play with friends, far-off relatives, coworkers, or simply meet an opponent in the Waiting Room. Once you've started a game, you can look at the history of all previous moves. Registration is free, and your opponents never know your email address. It's also free of Java, Shockwave, Flash, and scripts. It's the first games site guaranteed not to crash your Web browser.

Worried about the fat in kids' meals, federal officials are letting schools and day care centers serve tofu,
veggieburgers and other soy products as meat product substitutes in federally subsidized lunches ... you know that's true -- if the food's too horrible to eat, how can they get fat?

At a dinner party, one of the guests, an obnoxiously loud young man, tried to make clever remarks about everyone and everything. "Which end of the fork are you referring to?"
Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon?
The food is terrific, but there's no atmosphere.
And finally an interesting tidbit on drinking water and conscription: When Gideon's army was too numerous and needed thining out, the men were taken to a stream to drink, and 300 of them lapped water with their tongue ... all the rest supped it up (Judges vii. 4-7) ... All carnivorous animals lap water like dogs, and all herbivorous animals suck it up like horses ... The presumption is that the lappers of water would partake of the carnivorous character ... and so were more fit for military exploits. No doubt those who fell on their knees to drink exposed themselves to danger far more than those who stood on their feet and lapped water from their hands.
