Ode to Natalie Portman

by Doug Yuen

The lights went out. The music had begun.
It was the long-awaited Episode I.
As I watched the movie, my jaw dropped wide.
Soon, good and evil began to collide.

As the story went on, I knew what it meant;
This was the best five bucks I had ever spent.
The familiar scenes made my mind run wild
Of watching Star Wars when I was a child.

But as the movie slowed and the action died,
My interest in this picture did not subside
For never before had such a beautiful queen
Kept my eyes forever glued to the screen.

Her gentle voice and her tender smile
Made the waiting in line all worth while.
This was clearly one of the best movies to date.
Natalie Portman made this good movie great.

I could go on and on but that would be tiring
Like the Star Wars saga but less inspiring.
Things will fade away, much like you and me,
But I will always remember dear Natalie.
