"A Moment Too Late"
by Paymon Rahgozar
The time has come for me to go,
Yet, it is quite interesting, I must say,
For I do not fear it so.
But I must first say my good-byes,
And pray that tears will not pour
And gush from my loved one's eyes.
I see my family sleeping peacefully in bed,
Unaware of what they will soon learn;
Oblivious to what lies ahead,
And for whom they will greatly yearn.
I say to my brother good bye;
He can only hear me,
And that is just enough to make him cry.
I now must see my one true desire,
The one whom I've always longed for,
The one who causes my heart to burn with fire.
I tell her "I wish you only knew,
All that valuable time wasted when
My heart burned for only you."
She claims that all I say are lies,
That I really didn't love her,
And my infatuation was a mere disguise.
As I peer into her deep green eyes,
She learns that she too has loved me;
It's something she finally has come to realize.
Unfortunately, it is too late,
I must make my final departure;
I can no longer wait.
She cries desperately for me to stay,
I wish to heaven that I could,
But HE says I must now go away.
As tears drip from her beautiful eyes,
She wishes she hadn't lost her chance,
A chance disappearing into the skies.
I am not fearful, I am quite content,
I will wait until she joins me,
That will be my intent.
