Streams in the Desert by Mrs. Charles Cowman

“In the pathway of faith we come to learn that the Lord’s thoughts are not our thoughts, nor His ways our ways. Both in the physical and spiritual realm, great pressure means great power! Although circumstances may bring us into the place of death, that need not spell disaster - for if we trust in the Lord and wait patiently, we will see His almighty power.” - Mrs. Charles Cowman.

“In the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.” (Isaiah 35:6)

September 15  ( Monday )

Men ought always to pray, and not to faint. - Luke 18:1

A sign on a church bulletin board in Los Angeles read, “When your knees knock, kneel on them.” How true it is that the knees of the world are knocking today. Our adversary, the devil, is seeing to it that even the knees of the Christian are almost constantly knocking. Can Satan cause one’s knees to fold up from under him because of the weakness in his faith due to knocking knees?

Spend an hour upon the knees and let God put strength into them. The hard task and the difficulties you may have to face, the unpleasant circumstances, the disappointments which render the heart, the hopes which are crushed, the sorrows that seem to be constantly abiding, all can be lifted if God is given some of the time He requires of thee on the knees.

“The essence of praying is to get out of ourselves  so that God can get in.”

“If we are thinking so much about our own problems, we may not hear His knock on the door.”

The victories won by prayer, by prayer must still be held;

The foe retreats, but only when by prayer he is compelled!
