Finals. We were third on the points table at the end of the fourth round. The team managed to hold off Indians in a 1-0 win to proceed on to the semi's. A 1-0 win over YWCA took us to the final against Petone. A terrific game with Petone ensued with a definitive goal by Lisa in the first half. Some stunning saves by our new goalie Renee secured us the win we had worked hard for.
Thanks to our fill in players, especially to Sammy & Penny Lewis. And a special thanks to our ever patient coach Jackie and our wonderful supporters throughout the season, especially to those who turned up for the final despite the foul weather. You made all the difference!

Semi-final. The score was a 1-1 draw and went to a penalty shoot-out. Both teams scored two goals each from a possible five. A knock out round followed. Harbour City proved to be the winner.
Repechage. We were second on the points table at the end of the third round and played Harbour City, who were in first place. Due to the defeat by Habour City, we played the winners of the game between the third and fourth place holders the following day in a repechage. Northern United proved too strong on the night and we suffered a crushing defeat of 1-4. However, a great year for our team, coming third overall in our grade.
Many thanks to all our supporters thoughout the year, and to our coach Jane. Looking forward to an even better season next year!
Special "Fruit Salad" Awards to our supporters, Pam Clarke, Rose English and Ellen McEwen
A mixture from three Karori teams played Kia Kaha (Greytown, Wairarapa) on Sunday 27 September at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington. As we were short on players, a few members of the Kuranui team (also from Greytown) filled in for both teams. The game came to a dramatic conclusion when Lucy was hit in the eye by the hockey ball at close range, whilst saving a certain goal. Lucy was taken to A & E, and will no doubt have a very swollen eye, plus a few stitches. With only three minutes left, the game was called off ending in a 2-2 draw. The teams then adjorned to the sponsors for a feed and a well-earned drink!
The Karori Hockey Club celebrated the Centenary Anniversary of the Club at Easter (2,3,4 April 1999).
