1. Places in Wilmington, NC
   • 1. Burgwin-Wright House

     This house, built in 1770 over an abandoned jail, is Wilmington's oldest restoration. It is an example of a colonial gentleman's townhouse.

   • 2. Cape Fear Museum

     This museum has a small exhibit on colonial life of North Carolina.

   • 3. Zebulon Latimer House
     126 South Third Street
     762-0492

     Built in 1852, it was the home of a prominent merchant and contains original artifacts and furnishings.

2. Places Outside Wilmington, NC
   • 1. Boone Hall Plantation: Charleston, SC

     A restored plantation that displays the main residence, the slave quarters, the gardens and the smoke house.

   • 2. Brunswick Town State Historic Site: Winnabow, NC

     The colonial port town founded in 1726 and burned in a British raid on May 11, 1776.

   • 3. Middleton Plantation: Charleston, SC

     A plantation that was partly burned down. There is a house on display that contains original furnishings and paintings.

   • 4. Poplar Grove Plantation: Scotts Hill, NC

     1850 Greek revival home and out buildings.
