Menno Simons became vicar in this village where his father had been born. Already by this time Menno was beginning to doubt that the bread and wine were the actual flesh and blood of Christ.

Menno Simons decided to study the New Testament for himself, and was surprised to find that there is no scriptural support for the Catholic teaching on the Lord's Supper.
