Creation: The Work of God I. Introduction. A. God made the earth and all things therein: Genesis 1:1. B. Our world did not come from an evolvement of "nature" through billions or millions of years. C. The earth was planned and made by Jehovah: comment on Genesis 1:26. D. The awesome nature of God's work is evident to reasonable people. E. The awesome power of God's creation is also evident. F. God spoke: it existed "And God said..." at least six times in Genesis 1. G. Also remember: God will speak--it will be destroyed: II Peter 3:10. II. Body. A. Our earth is a product of a divine power: God did it. 1. Man cannot "invent" anything: he always builds on previous knowledge. 2. Sometimes man does good; sometimes not so good. 3. Man, in his wisdom, can accomplish much(comment on our modern society), but there is a limit to his power: Psalm 8:4-9. 4. Proper question: Job 38:4-7. B. The order of the universe and the earth demonstrate the power of God. 1. Everything God made has its place and its function. 2. After speaking creation into existence: Genesis 1:31. a. Suited to His purpose and plans. b. No man can improve on what God made. 3. Whatever man does, makes or "creates" is dependent upon the original creation of God. 4. Note: Psalm 19:1. C. Man cannot improve on God's creation. 1. Consider the air, water, soil, etc. 2. The design of humans. 3. Light and darkness; seasons; heat and cold. 4. Every innovation, every advancement, and every accomplishment, ultimately comes from God's creation. 5. An appraisal: Psalm 139:13-14. 6. Job's thought: Job 42:2. E. A creation for man's salvation. 1. God's son said: Matthew 16:18. 2. Created by: Acts 20:28. 3. A glorious creation: Ephesians 5:27. 4. And yet...as men tamper with and doubt the physical creations of God, they also doubt, ignore, and deny this spiritual creation. 5. Even "religious" people do not accept this divine creation. 6. Minimized and discarded by the existence of denominations. 7. Corrupted and divided by false teachers. 8. This holy and divine creation continues to exist and will exist in spite of all that men do to destroy her. E. Someday--this physical creation will come to an end. 1. Note again: II Peter 3:10. 2. Those who accepted the spiritual creations of God will: I Thessalonians 4:13-18. 3. For the unprepared: Matthew 25:41. 4. Always remember: the earth is temporal, it will not last forever! 5. God created the material universe--he can(and will) destroy the physical. 6. The spiritual lives on--eternally! III. Conclusion. A. How can one resist the teachings of the word of God as he views the result of God's creation? B. It stands today: will it stand tomorrow?-jy
