What Jesus Will Not Do I. Introduction. A. We have had lessons on What Would Jesus Do and Where Would Jesus Go? B. This lesson deals with what Jesus will not do. C. Some of the things Jesus would not do: 1. Go where the purposes of God would not be fulfilled: John 7:1. 2. Let men abuse what belongs to God: Mark 11:16. 3. Ease His pain in suffering for mankind: Matthew 27:34. D. In the present, and in the future, there are things that Jesus will not do. 1. Even though man may think otherwise. 2. Too many live with the mistaken idea that someway and somehow everything is all right between them and God, regardless! E. The New Testament reveals several things Jesus will not do for men(He died, however, for all men). II. Body. Jesus will not- A. Save an alien sinner that does not obey the gospel of Christ: Mark 16:15-16a. 1. The denominational world ignores the scripture and leads men into darkness. 2. Pleasing God is always based on respecting and following the Lord's commands. 3. The people on Pentecost realized such(Acts 2). 4. Saul of Tarsus was so convicted(Acts 9:18). 5. One who believes, obeys--one who does not obey does not believe: Mark 16:16b. B. Approve the unfaithful at judgment: Matthew 25:30(talents). 1. Recount the talent parable. 2. Take note: Matthew 15:26-30. 3. Just what does "faithful" mean? a. English: "Complete trust"(Webster). b. Greek: "...to be trusted; reliable..."(Vine). 4. Hence: Revelation 2:10. 5. Just how faithful am I to the Lord and the Lord's work? C. Reward those who are negligent and indifferent: Matthew 25:45. 1. A warning: Hebrews 2:3. 2. The word "indifferent" is not in the Bible, but the idea is: Revelation 3:15-16. a. Original means "tepid, warm"(Vine). b. Is this not without feeling or cannot be moved? Note: Matthew 24:12. 3. A person supports and upholds with enthusiasm what he values. 4. One's values are reflected in one's attitude and conduct. D. Overlook false teachers and false teaching: Matthew 7:15-23. 1. Whether occurring within a life, a congregation, or any other place. 2. There have been many false teachers in each age, as well as today: Matthew 24:11. a. In the early church: II Peter 2:1. b. May not even recognize at first: Galatians 2:4. 3. A proper course: I John 4:1. 4. Original word for false: pseudos(yeudos): discuss(as pseudonym). 5. Even if the error is taught by those who are "Christians" or "churches of Christ." E. Bless those who do not care for others: Matthew 25:41- 43. 1. Our world is filled with selfishness: in regard to God, to others, to family, etc.(We want our part/our due!) 2. Note: Luke 6:31-33. 3. John's question: I John 3:16-18. 4. In a mad rush to please self, too little thought is given to those around us. 5. What have I done lately to help someone who needed me? F. Make some special provision for those who make excuses for their sins and failures. 1. It is feared that many think that by some "luck" or "chance"--they can neglect their salvation and still go to heaven. 2. The Lord has never accepted excuses--not in Adam, not in Moses, not in David, not in Solomon, etc. 3. Paul said it: Romans 14:12. 4. Always remember: Matthew 7:20-23. 5. How we will answer: Matthew 25:34-36. III. Conclusion. A. The Lord will save you--if you obey and follow His word. B. The Lord will help you when you serve him: Psalm 119:105.-JY
